Healthcare FAQs

What insurance plans are accepted at Bermuda Village?
The Health Center and in-home rehab services accept Traditional Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield NC (HMO & PPO),
United Healthcare (PPO only), Humana (PPO only), Aetna (PPO only), and supplemental Medicare policies. PPO plans
must include out-of-network benefits.

Does Medicare cover home care or rehab?
Medicare does not cover non-medical home care services. For short-term rehab, Medicare requires three inpatient
hospital midnights before it will cover a stay.

What can the nursing staff help with for Independent Living residents?
Nursing staff can assist Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm with blood pressure checks, small cuts, and minor issues. Residents
must come to the Health Center and schedule in advance. Nurses do not make house calls.

What happens if I fall or have a serious medical issue?
Falls and serious conditions must be evaluated by urgent care, EMS, or your physician. Staff cannot perform fall
assessments.

How does the rehab admission process work?
If hospitalized, a case manager contacts Bermuda Village to coordinate discharge and admission. Admission depends on
bed availability and insurance approval.

How long does insurance approval take for rehab?
Insurance determinations typically take 12–96 hours depending on the provider.

What is an infirmary stay?
Independent Living residents may receive up to 15 days per year of infirmary care with 24/7 nursing support in
Batangas, based on need and space availability.

Is there a cost for infirmary stays?
Room and board are included, but residents are billed for supplies, medications, therapies, and additional days beyond
coverage.

How do I schedule an infirmary stay?
Residents must contact the Admissions Director and provide a completed FL2 form and medication list. Admissions
typically take 24–72 hours.

When should I compare my Medicare plan?
Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7 each year. Plan changes can affect coverage at
Bermuda Village.
